Geographical Coverage

Mufulira, meaning "Place of Abundance", is a historic mining town located in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia with a population of approximately 162,889 people (2021 census).

The town was established in the 1930s around the site of the Mufulira Copper Mine located on its north-western edge.

Mufulira is strategically positioned about 16 km from the border of the Democratic Republic of the Congo . It also serves as an important gateway connecting the Copperbelt Province to Luapula Province, making Luapula part of Mufulira’s commercial hinterland.

The town is well connected by road infrastructure:

  • 45 km to Kitwe
  • 55 km to Chingola
  • 57 km to Ndola

These connections make Mufulira an important economic and social hub for surrounding communities, which is why Future-Preneurs Zambia focuses its community empowerment and governance programs in this area and across Zambia.
